ASRO’s five ESA Active Dosimeter (EAD) radiation monitors were installed in the spacecraft cabin. The EADs will collect real-time, time-stamped data on the space radiation environment during the different phases of the Artemis 1 mission.
The radiation monitors were shipped to NASA in the United States via the European Space Agency (ESA), a partner in the Artemis program. In Europe, the official prime contractor is the German Aerospace Center DLR.
“ASRO has significant experience at the Finnish and European levels in the supply of scientific instrumentation. To our knowledge, we are the only Finnish operator involved in the Artemis 1 mission. At ASRO, we are proud that Finland is contributing cutting-edge technology to a major international project,” says Jussi Lehti, CEO of ASRO.
