Solar and Heliopheric Observatory/ERNE  - SoHO is a project between ESA and NASA to study the Sun from its deep core to the outer corona and the solar wind. Founders of ASRO had the key role in development and technical management of ERNE (Energetic and relativistic Nuclei and Electron) particle detector onboard SoHO. The development included the design and tests of the ERNE sensors and electronics, onboard data analysis software, ground support system and calibration of the instrument. The whole experiment has been very successful and is cruising still near Lagrangian point between the Sun and Earth, after 18 years of operation.

sixs.png BepiColombo/SIXS-P - The Solar Intensity X-ray and particle Spectrometer (SIXS) is one of the scientific payloads to fly on the Mercury Planetary Orbiter of the BepiColombo spacecraft. SIXS consists of an X-ray detector subsystem (SIXS-X) and a particle detector subsystem (SIXS-P), working independently but packaged into the same sensor unit housing. ASRO has designed particle detector readout electronics and have strong contribution to the particle detector design, instrument calibration and testing.
let2.png Solar Orbiter/LET - The Low Energy Telescope (LET) particle detector was designed to identify elements from H to Ni with excellent element and energy resolution onboard Solar Orbiter (SolO). ASRO carried out design of the readout electronics including FPGA development for the demonstration model.
ept.png EPT - Energetic Particle Telescope (EPT) is a compact and modular ionizing particle spectrometer in the near-Earth space environment, in particular at various parts of the radiation belts. ASRO carried out silicon detector development and prosessing for phases A/B/C together with the Microelectronics laboratory (University of Turku).
psd.png ISS/EuCPAD - European Crew Personal Active Dosemeter (EuCPAD) project is a radiation monitoring, dosimetry  and data storage system for the astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS). ASRO is participating to the architectural design of the  electrical system (based on PC-104 standard), application software and GUI design.

CPT - Charged Particle Telescope (CPT) is designed to measure ionizing corpuscular radiation in near-Earth space onboard a satellite. ASRO carried out phase A study for instrument providing high-precision data for scientific purposes and technological applications.

ISS/AMS - The Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS-02) is a state-of-the-art particle physics detector designed to operate as an external module on the International Space Station (ISS). It studies the universe and its origin by searching for antimatter and dark matter while performing precision measurements of cosmic rays composition and flux. ASRO have provided software for the AMS ground support equipment.

Aalto-1/RADMON - ASRO have supported development of the radiation detection instrument RADMON onboard  the first Finnish nanosatellite Aalto-1, project coordinated by the Aalto University.


telescope.png ASRO have long history of supporting development, operation and maintenence of ESA optical detection and survey system of space debris objects at Tenerife, Spain.
CCD.png Space debris camera - ASRO carried out low noise cryo-cooled CCD camera upgrade with control interface to the ESA 1-meter aperture optical telescope for high altitude space debris search.

StreakDet - Implementation of newly developed algorithms in a computer vision software for detecting space debris orbiting the earth.


SBO - ASRO carried out Space Based Observation (SBO) study to define user requirements and to develop an observation strategy for a space-based instrument capable of observing uncatalogued down to millimetre-sized debris objects.

ISOOS - ASRO carried out study for Improvements of Space Object Observation Strategies (ISOOS), finding potential benefits of new CMOS/APS detectors.
